![]() The Marvel blockbuster factory has completely changed the cinematic landscape since Iron Man debuted in 2008, but none became a bona fide cultural phenomenon quite like director Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther. Yet amid all the hype of Marvel’s Phase 4, the biggest questions hover around the hotly anticipated Black Panther 2. ![]() ![]() Whoever is the new Black Panther in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, hopefully they will do a fitting job of honoring both T'Challa and Boseman, something the poignant trailer suggests. After a two-year break, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has roared back to life, dominating Disney+ with an onslaught of hit shows, storming multiplexes with Black Widow and Shang-Chi, and hijacking the internet discourse with fan theories about the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home. Still, it remains unlikely that Killmonger is Black Panther in Wakanda Forever: he was ideologically opposed to T'Challa, given a fitting ending of his own already, and the figure in the trailer looks much slighter, so it would quite mesh with the teases of the sequel's story. The character is dead, of course, but there are ways Killmonger could return in Black Panther 2, especially with the multiverse in play. The Black Panther: Wakanda Forever trailer does at least leave the possibility open, because the new Black Panther suit has gold detailing similar to his (though seemingly a little less ornate), leading to the question being asked. Jordan is in Black Panther 2: the actor himself has previously said a return is unlikely, though wasn't something completely ruled out. Another more out-there possibility of who the new Black Panther is in Wakanda Forever is Erik Killmonger.
